# Problem

## **The Impact of Fake Reviews on Businesses and Consumers**

The proliferation of fake reviews has become a critical issue in today’s business environment. These reviews distort public perception, undermine consumer trust, and cause significant financial and reputational harm to businesses. They are particularly damaging for real-world enterprises like restaurants, hotels, and other players in the HoReCa (hospitality) industry, where customer experience directly affects reputation.

### Audiences impacted by fake reviews include:

* **Consumers (Millennials: 1981–1996 and Gen-Z: 1997–2012):** Research shows that **88% of people** follow at least one travel influencer on social media, and **45%** trust their recommendations ([TravelPerk](https://www.travelperk.com/blog/gen-z-travel-statistics-trends/)). These consumers rely heavily on reviews to make decisions about venues and services.
* **HoReCa Businesses:** For restaurants, hotels, and other hospitality enterprises, reviews play a pivotal role in attracting customers, especially in highly competitive markets.<br>

<figure><img src="/files/Ds0wG6R8ASETDILQX3jQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Types of Impact Caused by Fake Reviews

### **1. Reputational Risks**

* **Loss of Consumer Trust:** Consumers increasingly view reviews as unreliable due to their lack of authenticity. Studies show that **67% of consumers consider fake reviews a serious issue**, directly affecting their trust in restaurants, hotels, and other HoReCa businesses ([Demandsage](https://www.demandsage.com/online-review-statistics/)).
* **Negative Business Perception:** A single negative review can deter up to **22% of potential customers**, while multiple bad reviews can increase this figure to **70%**. For example, a restaurant with poor reviews may lose its core customer base ([Invesp](https://www.invespcro.com/blog/fake-reviews-statistics/)).

### **2. Financial Losses**

* **Lost Sales:** Fake reviews often drive customers to competitors, leading to direct revenue losses. For example, losing customers during peak season can significantly reduce the income of hotels and restaurants ([Invesp](https://www.invespcro.com/blog/fake-reviews-statistics/)).
* **Reputation Management Costs:** Businesses in the HoReCa industry are forced to allocate substantial resources to mitigate the effects of fake reviews, including hiring PR agencies and legal support ([Demandsage](https://www.demandsage.com/online-review-statistics/)).

### **3. Legal and Ethical Risks**

* **Regulatory Consequences:** The **U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC)** has banned the creation and sale of fake reviews, highlighting their harmful effects on fair competition, particularly in the hospitality sector ([Reuters](https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/us-ftc-finalizes-ban-fake-online-reviews-2024-08-14/)).
* **Ethical Concerns:** Fake reviews undermine principles of fair competition, eroding customer trust and hindering the equitable development of businesses ([Forbes](https://www.forbes.com/councils/forbesfinancecouncil/2018/10/05/how-review-sites-can-affect-your-business-and-what-you-can-do-about-it/)).

### **4. Deterioration in Service Quality**

* **Resource Diversion:** Businesses such as restaurants and hotels are compelled to divert resources to combat fake reviews rather than focus on improving customer experiences. This may involve creating specialized reputation management departments ([Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reputation_management)).
* **Customer Misinformation:** False positive reviews for a restaurant or hotel can lead to customer disappointment when they expect a high level of service but encounter poor quality ([ArXiv](https://arxiv.org/abs/2401.11345)).

### **5. Competitive Risks**

* **Unfair Competition:** Fake negative reviews are used by competitors to discredit the reputation of restaurants, hotels, and other HoReCa businesses, leading to a shrinking customer base. This tactic affects **30% of companies** ([Demandsage](https://www.demandsage.com/online-review-statistics/)).
* **Loss of Local Recognition:** Fake reviews can negatively impact the local reputation of establishments, which is particularly crucial for restaurants and hotels reliant on tourists ([JSTOR](https://www.jstor.org/stable/26652537)).

### **Conclusion**

Fake reviews represent a serious threat to any business where customer opinion is crucial, especially in service industries such as restaurants and hotels (HoReCa). They undermine trust, distort competitive landscapes, and result in significant financial losses.

Addressing these challenges through innovative solutions—such as transparent review verification systems, AI-powered technologies, and incentivizing users to leave honest reviews—will help restore trust and fairness in the hospitality industry. This is the core mission of daGama.

daGama offers a solution that we will tell you about in the [next section](/problem-and-solution/dagama-solution).

# daGama solution

<figure><img src="/files/nYVDPZvbTI8wT7w8UY5i" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The main principle of daGama is "**Real recommendations for real users**." daGama solves real problems of real people. Our app and algorithms enable us to address issues related to [fake reviews and discrepancies between expectations and reality](/problem-and-solution/problem). We use UGC, which is verified by our [MLAFS system](/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs). This content forms an [impression's map w](/product/for-user/the-impressions-map-and-recommendation-feed)ith a recommendation system that our users interact with.

Our users receive:

* An [impression's map with a recommendation system](/product/for-user/the-impressions-map-and-recommendation-feed) - **UGC**, verified by our [MLAFS system](/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs), ensures that every user can trust the recommendations.
* The ability to create recommendations and share impressions with other users.
* A [recommendation system with AI](/architecture/trust-rating-algorithm/ai-vasco-recommendation-algorithm) that recommends interesting places to you or helps you create a route.
* The opportunity to be not just a member, but an active participant in the community, thanks to our [role model](/economics/role-of-the-users).
* &#x20;Monetize your expertise and earn from your content creation with P\&E.

In addition, within our ecosystem, we also provide business with an opportunity to manifest itself. Our systems will help you [avoid the problems that many corporations have faced](/problem-and-solution/problem). Fake establishments, the "Yelp" movement, and negative review boosting from competitors will no longer be a threat to you.

**Businesses** have the opportunity **to focus more on service** and **less on marketing.** Establishments that users like and have a high rating are always marked on our map. In addition, daGama provides other opportunities:

* The ability to undergo [verification and gain access to the business panel](/product/for-business/business-panel) to provide customers with more information about yourself and attract their attention.
* Access to the [business growth program](/product/for-business/promotional-tools), which enables you to increase customer visits with the help of the recommendation service. In addition, there is an assistant with artificial intelligence that will give you more recommendations on how to increase attendance and who exactly your user is and how they behave.
* The ability to have your business checked by a [revisor](/economics/role-of-the-users) and receive a fair assessment, as well as a mark that the business has been checked and verified.
* A [chat with customers](/product/for-business/business-panel) that enables you to resolve all controversial issues and improve your business.
* Access to the [boost system and loyalty program](/product/for-business/promotional-tools), which opens up the opportunity to attract more customers to your venue.

Thanks to this, within our ecosystem, absolutely everyone will find the necessary functionality. Our app will become an integral part of life, creating many positive impressions for everyone.

# For user

Users who create content generate an [impressions map](/product/for-user/the-impressions-map-and-recommendation-feed). The people's map marks the rating of both popular public places and hidden gems that are otherwise very difficult to find. Credibility of these recommendations and places is ensured by our developments -  [MLAFS](/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs), [AI Vasco](/architecture/trust-rating-algorithm/ai-vasco-recommendation-algorithm) recommendation algorithm and [Trust rating](/architecture/trust-rating-algorithm).&#x20;

Main features for the user in daGama:

* People's Map: Displays points of interest visited by users.
* Recommendation's feed: Personalised recommendations and content filtering using AI Vasco algorithm.
* Recommendation's Creation: Ability to earn activity points for quality publications.
* Itinerary Creation: Combine different locations to create unique itineraries.
* Activity Monetisation: Post & Earn mechanics to earn activity rewards.

The user is presented with a familiar interface that allows them to comfortably use the application and get the most pleasant experience possible. Many users share their impressions of the establishments and places, thereby [creating the content](/product/for-user/creating-recommendations-and-iteneraries) necessary for daGama's community.&#x20;

# The impressions map and recommendation feed

In the [description section](https://wp.dagama.world/) we mentioned that daGama is a Real World Locations (RWL) platform that leverages blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies to offer a unique experience with authentic content and restore trust in recommendations.

<br>

Now, more about the impressions map…

<br>

<div data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/aTbMIquPlatyXmqhVoQq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

The impressions map is formed by the[ content that users create](https://wp.dagama.world/product/for-user/creating-recommendations-and-iteneraries) as they visit various places. The content that has passed through[ our systems](https://wp.dagama.world/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs) appears on the map, and every user can see authentic recommendations. It can be said that every place marked on our map is a diamond.

## Сonvenience of interaction

Vasco's AI recommendation algorithm is used to organise the people's map based on the interests of each individual user. On the map, secondary places are clustered (grouped) while preferred locations are "highlighted" according to filtering, text queries, and the user's individual choices. Our map features a unique design that highlights the best places with special design. These mechanisms significantly reduce the time required to find suitable places.

## The map finds places and the feed finds impressions

[Our algorithms](/architecture/trust-rating-algorithm/ai-vasco-recommendation-algorithm) have made the recommendation feed an invaluable tool for everyone and those who enjoy exploring new areas. Users are able to select a location that best fits their interests by viewing [Memo and relavant content](/product/for-user/creating-recommendations-and-iteneraries). We have created a set of filters that lets you categorize the establishments according to your mood, making it simpler for the user to interact with the recommendation feed.

All real-world locations in daGama are connected through a WEB3 infrastructure. This integration combines regular real-world places with the advantages of blockchain technology, promoting widespread adoption.

# Creating recommendations and iteneraries

To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the User-Generated Map within daGama, we have implemented robust mechanics designed to protect the community from fake or inaccurate locations. These mechanisms emphasize user accountability and verified experiences.

### **Core Features**

#### **Check-in**

A Check-in is a user-generated point on the map that records their presence at a specific location. This feature allows users to share their experiences authentically while maintaining the integrity of recommendations. Each Check-in remains valid for 30 days, ensuring that user impressions are current and relevant. [How to Create a Check-In](/product/for-user/dagama-app-user-guide#how-to-create-a-check-in)

#### **Recommendations**

Every place added to daGama is considered a recommendation by the user. Recommendations can be created with or without a Check-in:

* **Verified Recommendation:** If a Check-in is selected when adding a place, the location is automatically marked as verified. [How to Create a Verified Recommendation](/product/for-user/dagama-app-user-guide#how-to-create-a-verified-recommendation)
* **Unverified Recommendation:** A location added without a Check-in requires verification. Any registered user can verify such a place by confirming the recommendation’s accuracy. [How to Create an Unverified Recommendation](/product/for-user/dagama-app-user-guide#how-to-create-an-unverified-recommendation)

When a user creates a recommendation, they become the "Pioneer" of the location. Verified recommendations help enhance trust within the community and maintain the overall quality of the platform.

#### **Verification System**

The platform features a robust verification system:

* **Verified Places:** Locations added with a Check-in are automatically verified.
* **Community Verification:** Unverified places can be confirmed by other users who validate the accuracy of the recommendation. This ensures that all locations meet the platform’s standards for authenticity.

#### **Negative Feedback**

Users can provide negative feedback about their experiences at a location. Unlike recommendations, negative feedback is kept private and sent directly to the business owner. This approach helps businesses improve their service quality while protecting users' privacy. [How to Send Negative Feedback](/product/for-user/dagama-app-user-guide#negative-feedback)

#### **Impressions**

Impressions are detailed posts where users share in-depth accounts of their experiences at a specific location. To create an Impression, a Check-in must be selected, linking the content to a verified geolocation. Impressions can include ratings, offering valuable insights to the community. Only verified locations are eligible for Impressions, ensuring content reliability. [How to Create an Impression](/product/for-user/dagama-app-user-guide#impressions)

<figure><img src="/files/oiG6e2jK62a9ZooYiSb5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### **Memo**

Memos are quick, story-like posts with minimal content requirements, such as a photo or video. When a Check-in is linked to a Memo, it appears on the location’s card, increasing its visibility and providing other users with up-to-date perspectives on the place.

By combining these features, daGama fosters a trustworthy and dynamic environment where users can explore and recommend places with confidence. The system empowers users to share authentic experiences while ensuring that businesses are represented accurately and fairly.

### Creating itineraries

Itineraries are collections of locations put together by users to build custom travel routes. Especially helpful for tour operators, guides, and tourists, providing a chance to make money from well-traveled routes.

Users can design customized tourism itineraries according to their interests and preferences using the daGAMA project's itenarary creation mechanics.

Users can obtain an itinerary in the following ways

| **Method**                 | **Description**                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Independently | The user creates his own route, modifying it to suit his personal preferences and mood. |
| With AI | Artificial intelligence generates a travel itinerary for the user based on their interests. It is powered by [AI Vasco Recommendation Algorithm.](notion://www.notion.so/o/t6xSiSnVr1GCP7oWmA0p/s/1AEOSTXDDSHXzs1CWPxq/~/diff/~/changes/51/~/revisions/u6bpd6sTMH2wRYmGiqEg/architecture/trust-rating-algorithm/ai-vasco-recommendation-algorithm) |
| Buy a ready-made itinerary | Our users have the opportunity to buy a route from experienced guides, or to repeat the route of their favorite blogger. For this reason, this route needs to be available for purchase. Users can also sell their own routes in addition to purchasing a route. |

In the event that the user loses network connectivity, we have made it possible to download the route to your phone for convenient interaction.

# Multi-Level Antifake System (MLAFS)

<figure><img src="/files/5KJ9uTMMkW7rTpNxx3OT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The first level of the system is registration and login verification. If the account is logged in on another device, it will be disconnected from the previous device. In addition, it reads the fingerprint of the device to interact with it on further levels.

Digital watermarks:

* **Secure digital signatures.**&#x20;
* **Unique content digests.**&#x20;
* **Embedded digests in content.**&#x20;
* **Metadata storage for images and videos.**&#x20;
* **Non-visible pixel patterns.**&#x20;
* **Enhanced trust for signed visual content.**&#x20;
* **Biometric layer of security.**&#x20;

Level 2 interacts with the device fingerprint and [analyzes user behavior](/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs/user-behavior-analysis) - it is a supervised learning system for anomaly detection. The system accumulates an extensive collection of user related data. Group behavior is analyzed where attempts to manipulate reviews and ratings are detected.

At level 3 and 4, verification is done using sync and async algorithms. Thanks to [verification pipeline](/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs/verification-pipeline) we can detect incorrectness of fake reviews and determine their quality.

<figure><img src="/files/jAYjKTzoUbGg5YwunvR2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After that, verification subsystems come into play to issue a red or green flag on the content

<figure><img src="/files/UZbF4PMhLCtqfTJJGdCP" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Green checks** are actions or verification measures that boost a content piece's trust value by adding protective measures, like digital watermarking or biometric verification.&#x20;

On the other hand, **Red checks** aim to identify content that may be fraudulent or malicious, using tools such as machine learning for authenticity analysis and pattern recognition to spot likely fraud.

The blockchain and DAO act as a level 4-5. The community members who take the role of moderator additionally filter the feedback. Finally, the information is sent to the blockchain.

<figure><img src="/files/McADlvDm5OIfEzDXwZG9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

A cornerstone of our system's approach to preserving the integrity of reviews is the active engagement of our community. The Feedback and Reporting Mechanism is designed to empower users, giving them a direct role in safeguarding the trustworthiness of our platform. This subsystem combines user-friendly interfaces with sophisticated automated processes to ensure that suspicious content is swiftly identified, reported, and reviewed.

**Empowering users with intuitive reporting tools**

Understanding that the effectiveness of this mechanism relies on the active participation of our users, we've developed an **intuitive interface** that makes reporting suspicious reviews straightforward and accessible. This interface is seamlessly integrated into our platform, allowing users to **flag content that appears fraudulent**, misleading, or inappropriate with just a few clicks. By simplifying the reporting process, we encourage a proactive community vigilant against dishonest practices.

**Automated review and escalation**

Upon receiving a report, our system initiates an automated review process. This process employs a series of algorithms designed to assess the credibility of the reported content based on predefined criteria, such as the review's **deviation from typical patterns, the reporting user's history, and the context of the report**. Content that triggers red flags is then escalated to our team of moderators for further investigation.

**Leveraging community insights for continuous improvement**

The insights gathered from reported content play a crucial role in the continuous evolution of our detection algorithms. By **analyzing patterns in reported reviews**, our system learns to better identify fraudulent behavior, enhancing its ability to autonomously detect suspicious content. This feedback loop not only improves the efficiency of our review process but also strengthens the overall security of our platform.

**Data-driven model refinement**

Information from user reports and moderation outcomes is critical for refining our ML models. This includes **ML Captcha** and Behavior analysis systems, where such data informs supervised learning, allowing for nuanced detection of fraudulent behaviors. Continuous input from the community and moderation actions form a feedback loop, systematically enhancing model sensitivity to new and emerging fraud patterns.

# User behavior analysis

The behavior analysis system is a sophisticated component of our platform's security measures, focusing on the broader patterns of user activities to identify authenticity and potential fraud. Here's how it functions:

* **Gathering macro-level behavior data.** This system captures wide-ranging data on user activities, such as geographical movements, places they've visited, posts they've created, social interactions, and even how often they open the app. This broad spectrum of data offers a comprehensive view of a user's behavior over time.
* **Supervised learning for anomaly detection.** By applying supervised learning techniques to this accumulated data, the system can identify deviations from normal behavior patterns. These anomalies serve as indicators for Red Checks, helping to assess how typical or suspicious a user's actions are. This process is crucial for distinguishing not just bots but also real users who may be engaging in deceptive practices, such as posting inauthentic reviews.
* **Uncovering coordinated efforts.** As the system amasses a vast collection of user event data, it also employs unsupervised learning methods to uncover patterns that may indicate coordinated fake review campaigns. By analyzing group behaviors, the system can spot orchestrated efforts to manipulate reviews or ratings, providing an additional layer of fraud detection.
* **Early bot detection and content integrity.** Importantly, this behavior analysis isn't just reactive; it's proactive. By continuously monitoring and learning from user behavior, the system can flag suspicious activities early—sometimes even before fraudulent content is created. This early detection is invaluable for maintaining the platform's integrity, allowing us to intercept bots and fraudulent actors right at the onset of their activities.

In summary, the Behavior analysis system serves as a powerful tool for maintaining the authenticity of our platform. By analyzing user behaviors on both an individual and group level, it helps to unveil bots, identify users engaging in unnatural review practices, and detect coordinated attempts to undermine the platform with fake content. This comprehensive approach ensures a trustworthy environment for all genuine users.

# Verification pipeline

The concept of "guilty until proven otherwise" in our system begins with the premise that all content starts with a trust value of 0.0, indicating a neutral, unverified state. From this starting point, each piece of content undergoes a series of checks by different verification subsystems designed to assess its authenticity. As the content passes through these checks, it accumulates positive or negative scores based on the results from each subsystem. These individual scores are then added together to form a total cumulative trust value for the entire review. A higher cumulative trust value indicates a higher degree of authenticity, showing that the content has been validated as genuine by multiple layers of verification. This method ensures that only content that consistently demonstrates its authenticity across various checks achieves a high trust score, embodying the principle of starting from a position of skepticism and requiring proof to establish credibility.

The initial step in the verification pipeline involves breaking down user inputs into their smallest parts, starting with each marked as "not yet checked." This detailed method lets us closely examine every bit of content to make sure nothing is missed. As we check each part, it moves from being "not yet checked" to being confirmed as authentic, gradually building up a review that is true and reliable.

<figure><img src="/files/R99T08e1RjqI49TR4uu8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Trust rating algorithm

The creation of a trustworthy service is not only related to the ability of users to create content aimed at evaluating places but also to the ability to interact with each other's content.

<figure><img src="/files/RDSno5iIwrJYoMZjLC7i" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The subsystem of evaluation affects the motivation of users to create exclusively honest and high-quality material. To implement this functionality, such user characteristics as activity level, trust rating, and weight in the system are introduced. The user's content directly affects their rating, depending on the reaction of other application participants.

<figure><img src="/files/Q46kI47EraEX6SHHIFRf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Users, by evaluating content, change its weight in the system and, accordingly, its rating indicator. In turn, the updated post indicators affect the weight and rating of the content creator user.

Moreover, users, by performing targeted actions such as evaluation, creation, etc., change their own level of activity, as shown in the figure. The user's activity level is involved in the formula for calculating the personal trust rating and is an important user characteristic that reflects their involvement in the system.

The structure of interactions, implementing a closed system for calculating weighted coefficients, allows for more accurate rating indicators of the place and thus ensures the necessary level of trust in the system as a whole.

# AI Vasco recommendation algorithm

AI Vasco is a recommendation system that is constantly being retrained. The retraining is done to provide the user with recommendations that match their interests. Our system interacts with:

* Databases of tags, points, and ratings
* The locations that the user visits
* The content that the user posts
* The categories of establishments
* The ratings and reviews

By interacting with these elements, AI Vasco provides the user with a result in the recommendation system. This feature ensures that our users are only presented with relevant content.

<figure><img src="/files/SjKGQMBDYdBbFotUF6lH" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In addition, the [recommendation system](/product/for-business/promotional-tools) helps businesses attract new customers. daGama only recommends places that will be of interest to the user, eliminating unnecessary information from their life.

AI Vasco is also used when[ creating itineraries](/product/for-user/creating-recommendations-and-iteneraries), offering the user a route they can take that is based on their interests.

By retraining and learning more about each user, AI Vasco will always provide the most relevant recommendations for users.

# DAGAMA 2.0: PROOF-OF- PRESENCE (POP) PROTOCOL

### Introduction

This document provides an extended discussion of the challenges related to location determination and proof of physical presence, as well as an introductory overview of the architectural approach to building a Proof-of-Presence (PoP) protocol.

### Why a Proof-of-Presence Layer Is Needed

Modern digital services increasingly require an understanding of user actions in physical space: visiting a location, attending an event, completing a route, or interacting with a physical object. However, the infrastructure that enables trust in such data remains deeply centralized and opaque.

Most spatial and behavioral data is collected and controlled by a small number of technology giants—Google, Apple, payment networks, mobile OS vendors, and large API platforms. These corporations hold monopolistic access to geolocation data, routes, device identifiers, and activity signals. Users, developers, and businesses only receive *secondary access* to this data through APIs, reports, and interfaces, without any ability to independently verify its authenticity or completeness.

This situation creates several fundamental problems:

* **Manipulability and opacity:** Centralized providers can filter, distort, or aggregate data, eliminating the possibility of independent verification.
* **Lack of trust and anti-fraud weaknesses:** Systems based on self-reported location (GPS, check-ins) are easy to spoof; GPS spoofing, QR forwarding, and proxy-device attacks are common.
* **Excessive data disclosure:** When users share location data, they cannot control how much of it circulates further or who gains access.
* **Digital monopolization:** Only the largest players can build spatial analytics based on primary physical-world signals.

This leads to a contradiction:

> Demand for honest, privacy-preserving, and provable physical-world events is enormous, yet neither users nor independent projects can meaningfully work with spatial data without intermediaries.

### Solution: A Decentralized Presence Layer

To resolve this contradiction, an open and decentralized Proof-of-Presence (PoP) protocol is required. It must guarantee that:

* the event genuinely occurred in the physical world (e.g., a visit, participation, or route completion);
* the proof is cryptographically verifiable without relying on a trusted intermediary;
* no personal data is disclosed without consent;
* any interested party—business, application, user, or smart contract—can participate on equal terms and access trustworthy events.

PoP does not aim to replace centralized systems. Instead, it provides an alternative trust layer for Web3 and hybrid applications. Just as DePIN networks digitize infrastructure, PoP enables decentralized digitization of *facts of physical presence*, unlocking new interaction models between people, devices, and smart contracts.

### Problem Statement

#### Existing Positioning Systems and Their Limitations

Modern positioning systems combine multiple technologies depending on the environment (outdoor/indoor), infrastructure availability, and accuracy/latency requirements. Commercial solutions typically fuse GNSS, cellular positioning, Wi-Fi, proximity protocols (BLE, NFC, UWB), and inertial/visual sensors, followed by GIS-level interpretation (geofencing, POI matching, map-matching).

In practice, this answers the question *“where is the device approximately?”* but is insufficient when a **provable physical event** is required.

**GNSS (GPS/Galileo/GLONASS/BeiDou)** provides global coverage and acceptable accuracy outdoors, but degrades in urban canyons and indoors. More importantly, GNSS is not proof—it is a measurement vulnerable to interference and spoofing. It answers *where the device believes it is*, not whether an independent verifier can trust the event.

**Cellular positioning (4G/5G)** relies on timing, angle, or power measurements from base stations. While resilient where GNSS fails and increasingly standardized in 5G, results depend heavily on operator policies, station density, and radio geometry. It remains an estimate, not a cryptographically verifiable proof.

**Wi-Fi positioning and Wi-Fi RTT (FTM)** are widely used indoors and can reach meter-level accuracy, but suffer from NLOS, multipath, chipset variance, and infrastructure instability. Fingerprinting requires ongoing calibration and maintenance.

**BLE beacons and proximity mechanisms** offer cheap and scalable proximity detection, but RSSI is noisy, signals can be relayed or emulated, and proximity does not always equal physical presence.

**UWB and RTLS** provide high-precision ranging and are strong in controlled environments. However, they require infrastructure and are still vulnerable to advanced attacks unless combined with multi-layer verification.

**Inertial and visual methods (IMU/PDR/VIO)** provide high-frequency relative motion but accumulate drift and require external anchors.

**The GIS layer** converts coordinates into business facts (geofence entry, POI visit, route compliance). Many disputes arise here—not due to bad coordinates, but due to interpretation errors.

Overall, existing systems handle coordinates and context well, but suffer from four systemic limitations:

1. Quality degradation in complex radio environments
2. Lack of third-party verifiability
3. Vulnerability to attacks and economically motivated fraud
4. A conflict between data utility and privacy

For Web3 and DePIN, this is amplified by incentives: if physical events are rewarded, the motivation to fake them increases. Therefore, a dedicated infrastructure layer is required—one that confirms not *coordinates*, but *facts of events* under explicit verification policies.

### Key Issues and Criticism

In the 2020s, research focus shifted from maximum accuracy to **trustworthiness and system resilience**. GNSS research increasingly emphasizes spoofing and jamming resistance. Indoor systems struggle with NLOS and environmental instability. UWB, while precise, is not automatically secure without layered defenses.

At the same time, **centralization and privacy** have become critical concerns. Location data is among the most sensitive categories of personal information, enabling inference of habits, relationships, and social graphs. This creates a structural conflict: businesses want behavioral analytics and verified actions, while users reject full trajectory disclosure.

In IoT and DePIN, **economic incentives** further complicate matters. Once rewards are attached to presence, attacks emerge: Sybil identities, witness collusion, radio-environment emulation, edge-device compromise, and off-chain trust assumptions.

Across literature and practice, the conclusion is consistent: many applications require **provable events**, not raw coordinates. This demands trust minimization, privacy-by-design (including ZK proofs), and economic anti-fraud mechanisms.

### Technological Trends

* Rapid growth of the indoor/RTLS market
* Advancing 5G positioning standardization (3GPP Releases 15–18)
* Increased adoption and testing of Wi-Fi RTT/FTM
* Expansion of UWB and secure ranging, alongside growing academic scrutiny
* Rising GNSS jamming/spoofing incidents driving detection and mitigation investment

#### Threat Model

Key threats include:

* GNSS spoofing and jamming
* Replay and relay attacks
* Infrastructure impersonation (fake beacons/APs)
* Edge-device compromise (rooting, firmware tampering)
* Sybil attacks and validator collusion
* Data/model poisoning (if ML is used)
* Insider threats (operators, API providers, administrators)

***

### Requirements for Proof-of-Presence Systems

#### Functional Requirements

* Event confirmation: “entity was in zone X during time T”, “completed route”, “interacted with object Y”
* Third-party verifiability without raw sensor access
* Support for multiple scenario types (point, route, participation, interaction)

#### Non-Functional Requirements

* Integrity and confidence scoring
* Environmental robustness (NLOS, multipath, interference)
* Fraud resistance (spoofing, replay, Sybil, collusion)
* Scalability and batching
* Interoperability across signals, devices, and chains
* Privacy-by-design and controlled disclosure
* Auditability
* Reasonable total cost of ownership

***

### Target Properties of the PoP Layer

#### Trust Minimization and Independent Verification

Events are confirmed by independent validators and yield a cryptographically verifiable attestation usable by smart contracts.

#### Multi-Signal Robustness

Fusion of GNSS, Wi-Fi, BLE, UWB, IMU, and local anchors to handle real-world conditions.

#### Resistance to Economically Motivated Attacks

Stake- and reputation-based validator access, collusion detection, and policy-dependent assurance levels.

#### Privacy-by-Design

Only hashes/commitments are public; raw data is encrypted or omitted. ZK proofs enable statements like “was in geozone” without revealing coordinates.

#### Standardized Attestation Object

A PoP-Attestation includes:

* event type and ID
* time window
* zone/object identifier
* data commitment
* validator signatures
* confidence and policy metadata

#### Modularity (SDKs, Hardware, Contract Factories)

Mobile SDKs, hardware SDKs, APIs, and smart-contract factories enable rapid integration.

#### DGMA-Based Attestation Economy

DGMA acts as both settlement and incentive token, with mechanisms to keep mass usage affordable.

***

### PoP Protocol Architecture

The protocol consists of:

1. **Hardware / Edge Layer** — event generation at the physical boundary
2. **Validation Network** — oracle and validator cross-verification
3. **Publication Layer** — on-chain/off-chain anchoring
4. **Integration Layer** — SDKs, APIs, and contract factories

#### 5.1 Hardware Layer

Principles: data minimization, pseudonymization, multi-signal support, separation of fact from detail.

Sources include mobile devices, PoP hardware (beacons, terminals), hybrid QR/NFC/BLE triggers, and duration-based presence scenarios.

Each PoP event contains:

* event type
* target zone/object ID
* time window
* payload hash
* cryptographic authenticity markers
* pseudonymous participant ID
* optional environment indicators

***

#### Validation Layer: Oracle and Validator Network

Roles include:

* **Witness Nodes** (basic validation)
* **Geo-Verifiers** (geographic/context checks)
* **Consistency Nodes** (anti-fraud and pattern analysis)
* **ZK Validators** (zero-knowledge proof verification)

A local consensus model confirms each event via a configurable quorum, producing a PoP-Attestation.

# Blockchain

Our platform utilizes blockchain technology specifically for three purposes: rewards, secure storage, and anti-fake system. WEB3 provides users with full control over their data, including the content they create and the assets within the applications. Also, the token economy assists in ensuring fair distribution of rewards to users who supports ecosystem.

## Post & Earn

We award beneficial activities that strive to improve the ecosystem with the daGama utility token. Through a variety of activities within our role-based system, users can accrue project tokens. A user's ranking, the value of their prizes, and their likelihood of receiving drops all increase with the number of activities they do.

## Hold token & earn (Staking)

We also provide our own daGama token, which is awarded to users for creating and moderating recommendation content. This token has a wide range of uses in the application, from paying for business services to increasing the user level and purchasing premium accounts. Users can also use tokens to participate in various roles in the system and receive additional rewards. Users can also use [staking](/architecture/blockchain/staking). More information about the utility of the daGama token can be found in the Token utility section.

Interaction with the decentralized layer takes place through a set of smart contracts and web3 services.

## MLAFS blockchain interactions&#x20;

Our [MLAFS](/architecture/multi-level-antifake-system-mlafs) development at the latest level interacts with the blockchain. This interaction involves the transfer of data that has passed through our algorithms.

## Membership card&#x20;

[daGama's NFTs](/architecture/blockchain/membership-card-nft-id) give owners special privileges such as discounts and additional services in various fields. These tokens can be purchased on special platforms or directly from the business that issues them and can be used to obtain privileges or sold on the secondary market. More detailed information about the use of NFTs can be found in the NFT utility section.

> daGama helps to combine the familiar and convenient interfaces of the Web2 universe with the power and speed of Web3 technologies. Interact with dApps, cryptocurrency wallets, and other Web3 applications without any problems and long switches. We provide a seamless, comfortable, and familiar interaction for users.

# Membership Card (NFT ID)

daGama's NFTs provide their owners with special privileges, such as additional terms, discounts, and other bonuses. These privileges can apply to various fields, such as travel, entertainment, gastronomy, and others.

<figure><img src="/files/hMPL57gD6trHzYmObQzK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

For example, the owner of a daGama NFT for a hotel may get extra benefits like complimentary breakfast or late check-out, and the owner of an NFT for a restaurant may earn a discount on certain dishes or beverages.

In addition, daGama NFT owners receive increased profitability in [staking](/architecture/blockchain/staking).

# Staking

**The formula for distributing rewards** uses the weight of the user's participation at the time of placing the bet, which is calculated as follows:

$$
W\_x=Q\_x \times T\_x \times M \times NFT
$$

$$Q\_x$$ -  user's token amount X

$$T\_x$$ - user's level X, which depends on the number of tokens

| Tier # |     Q    |   T  |
| :----: | :------: | :--: |
|    1   | > 100000 |  1.2 |
|    2   |  > 50000 | 1.15 |
|    3   |  > 15000 |  1.1 |
|    4   |  < 15000 |   1  |

$$NFT$$ - The NFT multiplier. If the user has an NFT in their wallet, the variable is equal to 1.1, if there is no NFT in the wallet, the variable is equal to 1.

$$M$$ - The staking period multiplier, which is determined as a function that depends on the duration of the token bet, measured in weeks and calculated according to the formula:

$$
M = 1 + 0.5 \times W^{0.65}
$$

$$W$$ - Number of weeks: 16, 32, 52, 104 weeks. The maximum multiplier is limited to 12

## Limitation APR

Considering that the platform is subject to changes, especially when placing a minimum number of tokens, precautionary measures have been taken to prevent excessive fluctuations and potential exploits. Therefore, they are limited to 35%.

# Token Utility

**DGMA** is a **utility token with a fixed supply** that powers the daGama ecosystem. Within the daGama ecosystem, our token is used to pay for services, gain access to additional features, and receive rewards.

A cornerstone of the DGMA token's utility is the **Post & Earn** mechanism. The ecosystem employs a **role-based model** that encourages user engagement and valuable content creation by rewarding users with DGMA tokens for their contributions.

For example, u*sers can earn* DGMA *tokens for creating high-quality reviews and recommendations, as well as for discovering new places and events.*

### Business utility:

* Business Profile
* Promotional Tools
* Loyalty Program
* Retail Tools

Acting as the main token acquirers, businesses harness DaGama's tools to produce real-world profits and share a fraction of those proceeds.&#x20;

**The Business Panel** and **Promotional Tools** sections provide an in-depth exploration of the business-DaGama interaction.

<figure><img src="/files/DvZJBPhICpQ7CAZMn1Ut" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Users utility:

* Profile Customization
* Additional Features: comprehensive travel planning tools, memory map, and more.
* Discounted In-App Services
* Payments for Third-Party Services
* Crowdfunding & donations for exclusive content, experiences and secret locations
* [Membership Card (NFT)](/architecture/blockchain/membership-card-nft-id)

A key aspect of our economic model is based on the idea that users can become useful members of **the daGama DAO community** and earn tokens instead of having to buy them. Businesses monetize users in return for their input. More details about the rewards system are available below.

### Continuous Reward Pool

We employ an infinite pool mechanism for rewards. The token distribution economic model takes into account user contributions to the ecosystem and their reputation.

* The Reward Pool is segmented into **epochs**.
* Each containing a predetermined number of rewards.&#x20;
* Each epoch spans TWO weeks, concluding with a token distribution via **loot boxes.**

The reward size and acquisition likelihood for each era are thus dictated by the prevailing token balance in the prize pool and the rarity of the loot box.

### **The Impact of NFTs on Reward Distribution**

Holding a **Membership Card** has a direct impact on how many rewards a user gets when tokens are distributed at the end of the epoch.

NFT holders enjoy **enhanced discounts** and **bonuses on in-app products**, along with increased [**staking**](/architecture/blockchain/staking) APR.

### Token Burn Mechanism

Upon purchasing premium accounts, tokens will be transferred to **daGama's treasury**. From this treasury, tokens will be burned on a monthly basis.

In addition to burning tokens from premium account purchases, the project will also burn excess tokens from the rewards pool and drops. This occurs when the number of participants is insufficient to effectively distribute rewards at the end of the epoch.

### Economic Model (PoP)

PoP-Attestations are the core value unit. DGMA flows across:

1. Edge infrastructure
2. Validation/consensus
3. Publication/indexing
4. Product/API access
5. On-chain artifacts (NFTs, claims)

Staking and reputation protect the network, while the treasury funds development, security, subsidies, and ecosystem growth. Mass adoption is enabled through subscriptions, subsidies, and fiat-pegged pricing models.
